IH Magnify is seeking collaborative, equity-oriented social studies educators to help transform social studies education for thousands of Massachusetts students as Implementation Leads. Implementation Leads support schools using Investigating History—a comprehensive, inquiry-based curriculum for grades 3–7 developed by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. Through close partnership with schools adopting and implementing Investigating History, Implementation Leads help make inquiry-based, relevant, culturally and linguistically sustaining grade-level instruction a reality for all students.
IH Magnify is an implementation support team that works with a cohort of schools using the Investigating History curriculum. Established in 2025 with funding from the One8 Foundation, IH Magnify is a rapidly growing organization with a goal of supporting 250 Massachusetts public schools implementing Investigating History over the next four years. In the 2025–26 school year, we began work with our first cohort of schools using Investigating History in grades 5–7; in 2026–27, we will continue supporting this cohort while bringing on additional schools in grades 5, 6, and 7 and expanding our work into grades 3 and 4 for the first time.
Roles and Responsibilities
The IH Magnify Implementation Lead will serve a critical role in helping cohort schools and districts skillfully use Investigating History to foster meaningful learning experiences for all students. This role will work both independently and as a part of a close-knit team to amplify Investigating History’s impact in a diverse range of schools across Massachusetts.
Provide implementation support for a caseload of schools using Investigating History:
- Strategically plan and deliver effective in-person and virtual support to instructional leaders and teachers (e.g. check-in calls, on-site observations and debriefings, etc.) in order to maximize the impact of the Investigating History curriculum and the grant partnership
- Strategize with school/district administrators around their work with teachers (e.g. culture-building, data analytics, setting instructional priorities)
- Collect and monitor data to plan for proactive support for schools not on target for successful implementation and to assess the impact of Investigating History, partnering with evaluation and operation team members as needed
Contribute to the development of implementation supports for cohort educators:
- Work closely with other implementation team members to identify and elevate trends across the cohort in order to develop an effective ongoing support strategy that is responsive to schools’ needs
- Collaborate with implementation and professional learning team members to develop large-group programming, including identifying potential topics and speakers and reviewing agendas and materials
- Support large-group programming by co-facilitating workshops alongside professional learning team members as well as through helping host, set up, and break down after all events
- Contribute to the creation of additional implementation supports through thinking strategically about how to address identified needs and leading the design, development, and/or execution of supports such as supplemental resources and tools, small-group Zoom calls, or organized peer-to-peer visits
Develop and sustain relationships with educators and administrators:
- Build deep, trusted partnerships with leaders at caseload schools and districts that ensure that leaders feel comfortable surfacing challenges and see the IH Magnify team as a valuable, credible source of support
- Support collaboration and community building among the wider cohort of grantee schools to accelerate educators’ learning and strengthen the sense of connection across the cohort
- Help identify model teachers to present at professional learning workshops, conferences, and/or recruitment events
- Support recruitment of schools for future grant cohorts through meeting with school and educator prospects, facilitating recruitment activities and events, and participating in application reviews and interviews
