Amber-Nicole Rodriguez serves as a DKP Launch Implementation Lead. In this capacity, she supports schools in executing Civic Engagement in Our Democracy, a year-long 8th grade civics curriculum. **She brings years of classroom experience and a deep respect for the craft of teaching to this role!

Prior to joining DKP Launch, Amber was a Social Studies teacher at KIPP Academy Boston Middle School (KAB) for 7 years. During her time there, she worked with both 7th and 8th graders. At KAB, Amber also served as the Grade Level Chair for the 8th grade team. As an educator, she has prioritized identity-affirming and culturally relevant instruction, and has been an advocate for project-based learning.

Outside of her work in education, Amber has been deeply involved in Greater Boston’s arts community through theater and music. As such, she believes our voices and perspectives are crucial in story/truth-telling. She hopes students will feel empowered to navigate and question systems of government and power - both untangling the legacy of democracy in the U.S. and imagining themselves as changemakers. Amber holds a BA in Women, Gender and Sexuality Studies from the University of Mass Amherst.
